British-Iranian woman jailed for attending Tehran volleyball match

A woman who has been detained in Iran for trying to watch a volleyball match has been sentenced to a year in prison. Ghoncheh Ghavami, 25, a law graduate from London, was convicted of spreading “propaganda against the regime” and is currently being held in solitary confinement. Tehran has also just been named host of the 2015 Asian Men’s Volleyball Championships. Read more: theguardian and tehrantimes.com
