Sweden scales back construction to save toads

A construction firm in Malmö, Sweden, has been ordered to amend their plans for a 260 million kronor industrial area, in order to protect a colony of European green toads living in the area. The amphibians are the country’s most endangered toad species, and the construction site in the city’s Norra Hamnen district will be scaled back by 15% to create a 153,000 square metre nature reserve.
