Honduras travel warning after storm battering

Parts of Honduras’ Caribbean coast have sustained severe infrastructure damage from Tropical Storm Hanna, sparking a Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO) warning for the area. Colon department, in the north of Honduras and close to the Bay Islands area, has been worst affected according to the FCO, which advised travellers to keep in touch with their travel companies or follow the advice of local authorities. Northeastern Honduras and Nicaragua’s northern departments have been soaked by heavy rains in the past week as the Tropical Storm passed over. Thousands of people in northern Nicaragua and areas around the capital, Managua, are already living in temporary shelters due to recent flooding. Read more: gov.uk
