A Dublin pub has come under fire after charging for tap water. Dicey’s Bar introduced the 20c charge a fortnight ago. The move comes as water meters are installed at homes across Ireland. Many households are having to pay for water for the first time, an unpopular measure that has encouraged tens of thousands of people to join protests. Ireland’s coalition government says the charges are necessary because of the high cost – around €1 billion – of supplying water. Another protest is due in Dublin on Saturday. Read more: independent.ie
