Nepal approves new international airport

The government of Nepal has given the green light for a new international airport at Pokhara. With backing from China, the existing domestic airport will be upgraded to receive larger aircraft and international flights, providing a direct international route to the Annapurna Region and western Nepal. The airport plan has been under consideration for 39 years, but has faced a string of false starts, most linked to funding shortfalls. Read more: ekantipur.com
