Dominica's airport to get upgrade with new name

The Prime Minister of Dominica has vowed to improve the island’s international airport as he christened it with a new name. The Melville Hall Airport will become Douglas-Charles Airport and be named in honour of two former prime ministers: Roosevelt Douglas and Pierre Charles. Prime minister Roosevelt Skerrit complained that the previous name, Melville Hall, was inappropriate and outdated as it was in honour of an 18th century slave-owner. The airport expansion and upgrade has been backed by the European Union and a private Chinese investor, and it is hoped the work will significantly improve facilities. Read more: caribbean360.com
