Beach party ban in Thailand after recent backpacker murders

Thai authorities have banned all beach parties in Surat Thani province in a crackdown on raucous tourist behaviour, except for the infamous Full Moon Party on Ko Phangan. The ban also applies to Ko Samui, the largest island in the Thai Gulf and Ko Tao, where two British backpackers were found murdered in September. Their murders have dented Thailand’s tourism industry at a time when the sector is struggling to recover from months of political unrest. Read more: telegraph.co.uk
