Hoard of ancient coins found in Indonesian river

A 25kg haul of Chinese coins dating back to the tenth century has been discovered by locals in the basin of the Komering River in Negeri Agung, South Sumatra. It’s thought the coins were brought to the basin by local indigenous traders after doing business along the Musi River in Palembang, where they used to sell elephant tusks, herbal medicines and rattan to Chinese traders.
