National alert after terror threat to planes in India

Airports across India are on high alert after reports of a plot to place suicide bombers on two Air India flights. Security has been ramped up at Kochi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad airports, with armed patrols and extensive searches for all passengers. The alleged plot was uncovered following chatter between ISIL and Al Qaeda militants, who have threatened to target Gujarat as a symbolic gesture against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was previously chief minister for the state.
