First case of Ebola hits New York City

The first case of Ebola to hit New York City was confirmed on Thursday. A 33-year-old doctor who recently returned from West Africa has tested positive for the disease after experiencing fever and other symptoms. Officials said that the man had ridden the subway, taken an Uber taxi and visited a bowling alley in the week before getting ill, but that it was unlikely he infected other people. In an announcement on Thursday evening, Mayor Bill de Blasio said, ‘There was no need for New Yorkers to be alarmed’. ‘Ebola is an extremely hard disease to contract’.
