New train can travel from Washington to Baltimore in 15 minutes

A new high-speed train that has been developed with Japanese magnetic-levitation technology, could cut the journey time from Washington DC to Baltimore to only 15 minutes. Northeast Maglev, a company based in Washington DC, is hoping to bring the train to the congested northeast corridor with the help of federal funding. The Japanese government has also said that it would stump up half of the money for the first stage of the project. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Northeast Maglev, Wayne Rogers said,’We hope the U.S. government will be submitting some of the funds to finish it out.’ The ‘floating’ train can travel at speeds of up to 311 mph.
