Fake Venice opens in northeastern China

China is known for its penchant for copies, and Dalian, a city in the northeastern part of the country, has opened the latest: a replica of Venice complete with a canal network and Venetian-style architecture and ‘castles’. A one-kilometre section of the canal network is already open to the public in the city’s Donggang district, with plans to open a further three kilometres of canals once the project is completed. Visitors can explore the area by taking traditional-style gondola rides. Read more: shanghaiist.com
