‘Electric Saluki’ invention allows sand dunes to be crossed by bike

The UAE’s first ‘desert bike’, the Saluki, has been invented by three Emirati friends, meaning you no longer need a 4×4 to ride through the sands. Salukis are named after the dogs traditionally kept by Bedouin, and the bikes come fitted with larger tyres that enable them to tackle sand dunes at speed. The silent motor makes them useful for wildlife-spotting in the desert too. Read more: thenational.ae
