The government of India is debating plans for a new border highway in Arunachal Pradesh to counter the spate of incursions by Chinese troops into Indian territory. The remote northeastern state is one of the least developed parts of India and officials hope that the new highway will encourage the growth of new infrastructure for the people who live in this impoverished and isolated region, as well as providing a conduit for soldiers to police the Nepal-China border.
