Amal Alamuddin to advise Greece on return of Parthenon Marbles from Britain

Human rights lawyer, Amal Alamuddin Clooney and her boss Geoffrey Robertson will visit Athens from 13 to 16 October to meet with Greece’s prime minister Antonis Samaras and culture minister Konstantinos Tasoulas. They will advise the Greek government in its bid to get the Parthenon Marbles back from Britain. The ancient statues were removed from the Acropolis by Lord Elgin during the Ottoman rule in the 19th century, and are now exhibited at the British Museum. The famous lawyer’s husband, George Clooney, expressed support for their return to Greece in March during the promotion campaign of his movie The Monuments Men. Read more: theguardian.com
