Worst Yosemite fire season in years claims life of firefighter pilot

The pilot of a plane who was helping put out a fire in Yosemite National Park has been killed after the aircraft hit a cliff. The accident happened at the Arch Rock entrance, at the western end of the valley, as the air tanker was being used to extinguish the latest blaze in the area. This year’s fire season, the worst in many years, has been exacerbated by California’s ongoing severe drought. Read more: theguardian.com
