Located on a family farm, the Waitomo region's newest subterranean option operates small-group tours (maximum eight people) through more remote and unmodified caves. Tours involve clambering over boulders, up hills and through underground streams, so a moderate level of fitness and adventure is required. Glowworms are aplenty, and you'll spend around two hours of the three-hour tour underground.

Pick-ups are not available so you'll need your own transport to rendezvous at the starting point around 25 minutes' drive from Waitomo village.
