Bryce’s Rockclimbing is situated in a rural area 25km southeast of Te Awamutu, near hundreds of climbs at various crags (many of which are within walking distance). The surreal landscape provides some of the best rock climbing in the North Island, but it’s an area best suited to those with at least basic climbing skills.
Friendly owner Bryce Martin can offer independent advice on accessing the different climbing locations in the region.
On site is NZ’s largest retail climbing store, selling and hiring a full range of gear. Another option is the excellent online store (www.shop.rockclimb.co.nz). There’s also comfortable accommodation, and all rooms have private en-suite bathrooms (dorm/double $30/76). Breakfast is available to guests by request. Accommodation is also open to hikers, cyclists, anglers and general travellers. Your own transport is required to get here.
