After your cruise ship docks in Port Chalmers, just outside Dunedin, meet your guide at the dockside to begin your scenic small-group tour of Dunedin and the Otago Peninsula.Your route takes you above the harbor for views over the peninsula. After your cruise ship docks at Port Chalmers in Dunedin, meet your guide at 8:45am (depending on your cruise schedule) and take a set in your vehicle to begin your 7.5-hour tour. Then, enjoy the scenic journey past top Dunedin attractions including steep Baldwin Street, the historic railway station, and the University of Otago buildings. Along the way, listen as your guide brings the city’s history to life. Head out of the city onto the Otago Peninsula and watch the waves roll in along the pretty coastline. Admire fine collections of native flora and fauna at the Larnach Castle gardens, and enjoy sweeping views over Otago Harbour. Upgrade your tour to include entry to Larnach Castle, and marvel at the exquisite Victorian interiors you find.Continue on along winding gravel roads towards Portobello, the main township on the Otago Peninsula. City HopperAfter disembarking, leave Port Chalmers in the Headfirst Travel Shuttle, with regular departures to Dunedin between 8:45am and 10:30am. Meet up with a double-decker bus for a hop-on, hop-off tour of Dunedin—buses pass every 30 minutes, so you'll have plenty of time to explore the things that interest you. Stops include George Street (shopping), Baldwin Street, Dunedin Botanic Garden, the University of Otago, Otago Museum, the Railway Station (for Cadburys/Otago Settlers Museum), and Speight's Brewery. When you decide it is time to return to the ship, simply take the shuttle back to the port, which departs regularly between 2pm and 4:30pm.Larnach Castle & GardensMeet a driver at 9:30am at Port Chalmers for the trip to Larnach Castle & Gardens, arriving at roughly 10am. Full-Day Larnach Castle Tour

Begin the morning with a city sights tour taking in Dunedin City's best attractions. Visit the University of Otago, check out Signal Hill lookout and have a go at walking Baldwin Street, the world's steepest street. Visit the Northern Cemetery, Dunedin's oldest, where you will find the Larnach family tomb. The tour will also stop in the city's Octagon and the Grand Railway Station for a look inside. You will be provided with complimentary snacks and bottled water to keep you refreshed throughout the day. A key difference with this tour is the small group size (maximum 10 people). This allows us to navigate the Castle with ease, keeping away from the larger groups and fitting much more into the day. New Zealand's infamous castle was built over a century ago by William Larnach high up on the hills of the Otago Peninsula. Experience breath-taking views along the Peninsula's high road with photo stops en-route to the Castle. Upon arrival it will be time for a light lunch in the Ballroom Cafe (at own cost). We reserve a table for our group and a variety of food is available at good prices. After lunch, your guide will escort you throughout the entire castle, from the gun room below to the views from the turret and all the marvels in between. Get all the details as you explore the Larnach family’s legacy and hear the tale of their amazing story. The Castle's award winning garden is one of national and international significance and there will be an opportunity to explore this as well. On a clear day you might even see your cruise ship in dock at Port Chalmers across the harbour. Depart the castle for a leisurely drive back to Port Chalmers to finish the tour. Arriving back at the wharf Visitor Terminal at least one hour prior to ship's departure.
