Worth the Trip: The Road to Paradise

Road signs in Glenorchy promote the town as the 'Gateway to Paradise' and it is…literally. Paradise lies around 15km north of Glenorchy, near the start of the Dart Track.

The road from Glenorchy to Paradise, which is unsealed from the Kinloch turn-off, heads up the broad Rees Valley, edging along the foot of the Richardson Range. Approaching Paradise it cuts through a beautiful section of beech forest on the shores of Diamond Lake before fording the River Jordan – how's that for a biblical entrance to paradise! – and arriving at Paradise. There's not much here (ok, there's pretty much nothing here); it's just paddocks. But it sure is pretty!
