This former maternity hospital has been transformed into a stylish and relaxing retreat. Chic suites are arrayed around a spacious lounge area enlivened with colourful artworks from Asia, and looking out onto brilliant views of Farewell Spit. A separate wing houses rooms with shared bathrooms for budget travellers. Massage services, kayaks and paddle boards are available, and there's a restaurant-bar.
Many of the restaurant's ingredients are sourced from Zatori's own gardens and orchards, and over summer an in-house chef crafts seasonal daily menus with an organic and wholefood bent. A great wine and craft beer list means guests don't have to be too virtuous.
Located within a historic building, Zatori Retreat boasts 180-degree sea and mountain views. All rooms offer a private deck patio. Guests enjoy free WiFi and free on-site parking. Situated in Golden Bay, north-west of the South Island, Zatori is 5 minutes' drive from central Collingwood. It is ideally located for exploring the Heaphy Track of the Kahurangi, and for visits to Abel Tasman National Park and Farewell Spit. A variety of activities can be enjoyed nearby, including paddle boarding, kayaking, cycling, hiking, horse riding and fishing. The retreat also offers heath and wellness treatments such as massages, facials and Reiki and yoga sessions. Guests have access to communal lounge area with a library and satellite TV, plus a fully equipped shared kitchen with free tea/coffee. Zatoria Retreat is also a popular wedding and event venue.
