New Visa Fee

There will be a new Visa Fee of $35 starting next year.

See: https://www.nzherald.co.nz/travel/news/article.cfm?c_id=7&objectid=12070960

The NZ government must like Australians and Pacific Islanders, as these two groups will be exempt.

I'm looking for a walk of 2-3 hours (up to 500 m climb) within a 2 hour drive of Wellington, as part of a day out from Wellington with a hire car. The Mangaone Walkway near Waikanae looks promising, as does the Parata Walking Track (which it appears I could do from the train station without a car). More suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as would your comments on those 2 walks. Combining a couple of shorter walks would also be a possibility. Could this be horribly cold around 24…

I will be spending 3 days in Paihia, Bay of Islands, in mid-August and want to do some modest forest walks with kauri trees. The Dept of Conservation website lists several walks in Puketi and Omahuta Forests, yet a TT search for them finds nothing. How does Puketi compare to the Waipoua Forest that the guidebooks rave about? I do not need to see the biggest or oldest of anything. and Puketi seems like a much easier drive from Paihia. (I also plan to take the "Opua Kauri Walk" just up the…

Hi! Right after my wedding at the end of October, I want to travel to New Zealand for the honeymoon with my wife for 2 to 3 weeks (either a week in Rarotonga to unwind before 2 weeks in NZ or 3 weeks in NZ). We'll be coming back to Sweden for a cold, dark winter ahead, so I want to make the most of the outdoors in NZ before then.

Both of us are moderately active and would like to do things which may not be possible with young kids in a few years, such as the Shotover Jet, tubing through the…

Hi,
I got approved for working holiday visa for NZ.
As you know, getting the insurance is one of the polices.
So I've got to get one but actually, as this is the first time to go abroad by myself so I'm not sure what is needed for insurance. (Besides, I'm kind of not good at comparing those things)
So, I need your advice and help
Please help me and I hope you leave the company you chose.
+) Oh, btw, I don't have a driving certificate, so, don't I need any cover related to car driving?

If anyone…

Hi there,
Currently looking at studying in one of the universities in New Zealand and am deciding between Auckland, Queenstown or Christchurch. My course is offered in all places so I want to know which place is highly recommended for the best sailing, paddling and scuba diving as I'm a huge fan of these water sports.

Dear Fellow Travellers, I've been analysing your advice in this forum and other itineraries and tried to create the perfect one for me and my partner for our long-awaited trip from Spain to NZ in mid November. Could you please let me know what do you think and respond to some of the doubts I have in mind? Thank you so much in advance for any tips!

14-17 Nov| Auckland (3 nights) - After arriving we fight 12h jet lag and plan to visit Waiheke and Rangitoto islands, as well as stroll around…
