Following an old mining track from the late 19th century, the Croesus is an 18km, one- to two-day trail that suits experienced trampers. The track links inland Blackball with coastal Barrytown, crossing the Paparoa Ranges (climbing as high as 1km above sea level) and passing historic relics of the mining glory days.

From 2019, the Croesus Track will link to a new Great Walk, the Pike29 Memorial Track, a two- to three-day walking trail between Blackball and Punakaiki.
