This 6.5 hour tour explores three of Dunedin's designated Gardens of International Significance - the Dunedin Botanic Garden, the authentic Chinese Garden, and beautiful Glenfalloch gardens situated on the stunning Otago Peninsula. You'll also see the highlights of Dunedin City and enjoy lunch in the settlement of Portobello overlooking the harbour. Be picked up from your Port or hotel to board our comfortable van, with commentary from your local guide provided throughout the tour. Enjoy the drive over Mt Cargill with great views of Dunedin city, leading to Baldwin Street - the world's steepest street. Scale the street, or just take photos, before heading the short distance to visit and wander the Dunedin Botanic Gardens - New Zealand's first botanical garden boasting over 6500 species of plants and the famous Rhododendron Dell. After 1.5 hours here you'll ride to the Octagon, the city centre, to visit the impressive St Paul's Cathedral with its stained-glass windows depicting the early history of the Otago Province. You'll spend around 20 minutes here and also take a walk around the picturesque Octagon. Departing here in the van it is a short drive to the unique and tranquil Chinese Garden for a guided tour. This is the only authentic garden of its kind in the southern hemisphere, designed and constructed in China before being shipped over and erected in the City. The tour then heads out onto the Otago Peninsula for a 1pm lunch at the Portobello Hotel in the lovely seaside settlement of Portobello. Spend an hour enjoying fresh kiwi food while looking across the harbour. Take a few minutes to view the art gallery next door, with works by talented local artists. From here it is a short drive to the beautiful Glenfalloch gardens for a peaceful stroll of the extensive garden with panoramic harbour views. This tour offers a visually stunning journey - you will see many varied and colourful native and exotic plants in lovely settings as well as taking in Dunedin's beautiful architecture and heritage. The ride home ends with a timely drop-off back at Port, hotel or the city centre for a stroll and shopping, for those who wish to make their own way back to their ship or accommodation.
