Carsud Operates buses on 12 lines between Noumea and the greater Noumea region. It goes as far north as Tontouta (400 CFP), passing through Dumbéa (320 CFP) and Païta (360 CFP), and south to Plum in Mont-Dore (400 CFP).

Karuia Bus This is the local bus service around Noumea city with 18 numbered lines. These red-and-white buses operate from 6am to 7pm. The ticket office is opposite the Compact Megastore; tickets are 190 CFP when bought there; 210 CFP when purchased on the bus. Line 40 runs from the city centre to Magenta domestic airport and Tjibaou Cultural Centre. Lines 10 and 11 run out to Baies des Citrons and Anse Vata beaches. On Saturdays and Sundays only, Karuia Bus runs a hop-on, hop-off bus from the Ferry Quai. Line 12 Culturelle heads out to Parc Forestier and back, while Line 14 Panoramique runs out to Ouen Toro via Baies des Citrons and Anse Vata.

Car & Motorcycle

The Office du Tourisme has a comprehensive list of car- and scooter-hire companies. Car rental costs from 3500 CFP per day, including free 150km per day – go for unlimited if you plan to tour the north or south.


Noumea’s taxis are operated by Radio Taxis de Noumea. Head to the main taxi rank on Rue Anatole France, across from Place des Cocotiers. There’s also one near the aquarium at Anse Vata. City centre to Baie des Citrons costs 1400 CFP.
