When to go and weather
- Windhoek has a pleasant year-round climate, but its altitude (close to 1700m above sea level) ensures a much cooler climate than the rest of the country – it can be pleasantly cool in summer but bitterly (and surprisingly) cold in winter, especially at night.
- The most pleasant time to visit is during the winter – bring warm clothes! – which runs roughly from May to September or October.
- The warmest months are December to February or March, but these are also the months when you're most likely to get rains.
