Flights & getting there
At the time of writing, foreigners were only allowed to arrive and leave Myitkyina by plane or train, or by private car with a guide, and only to the south (Indawgyi Lake and Katha).
Myitkyina's airport is a couple of miles from the town centre. A three-wheeler costs K3000. Air-conditioned taxis are available for K5000 per person. On arrival at the airport, you will need to present your passport to the immigration police.
The train station is close to the clock tower in the centre of town.
Boats leave from the Talawgyi Pier, a K5000 ride from town in a three-wheeler.
