Keep an eye out for crocodiles in the lagoon before spotting a variety of sea turtles on a visit to the National Mexican Turtle Center in Mazunte. Finish your day trip in Zipolite, a seaside ‘hippie’ town that’s popular with surfers. Receive personal attention on this small-group tour, limited to 20 people.
After hotel pickup, relax aboard your air-conditioned minivan on the 1.5-hour drive from Bahías de Huatulco. Upon reaching La Ventanilla, a small beach village, start your small-group eco-tour of the lagoon, an estuary of the Tonameca River. Embark on a boat cruise through the mangroves to observe a wide variety of wildlife and listen to the sounds of birds such as woodpeckers, kingfisher and herons. Along with turtles, deer and iguanas, you may spot crocodiles swimming or nesting in their natural habitat! Then we will take you to Mazunte considered magical town, where you will visit a workshop of natural cosmetics, where you can learn about the processes of making natural products such as: soap, creams, among others. Next, you will visit the Mexican Center for Turtle Research, a place that is responsible for the conservation and study of 7 of the 9 species of turtles that exist on the coast of the state.
