Sabancuy is a picturesque fishing town on the lower side of an estuary that branches off the northeastern end of Laguna de Términos. It's 2km inland, connected via land bridge to the coast highway. It's rustic, partly because nobody's yet cashed in (no mega-resorts here!) on the beauty.
It has a cute waterfront plaza, but beyond that there's not much to do; the most interesting things here are the beaches around Sabancuy that are major nesting grounds for hawksbill and green sea turtles.
