To & From the Airport
The cheapest way to get to/from the airport is on a local bus for M$7.50. ‘Centro’ and ‘Olas Altas’ buses go into town from a stop just outside the airport. Returning from town, ‘Aeropuerto,’ ‘Juntas’ and ‘Ixtapa’ buses stop at a pedestrian bridge near the airport entrance.
From the airport to the city, taxis charge fixed rates ranging from M$260 to M$343, depending on which neighborhood you’re traveling to. Shuttle service costs M$120 to M$139. A taxi back to the airport from downtown costs around M$150.
Vallarta’s long-distance bus terminal is off Hwy 200, about 10km north of downtown and 3km northeast of the airport. Think M$180 for a cab fare to downtown.
Primera Plus has a downtown office where you can buy tickets. If you’re heading to Barra de Navidad, Manzanillo or other points south, you can save a trip to the bus terminal by boarding here.
Northbound buses to Riviera Nayarit towns depart frequently from a bus stop in front of Walmart, just south of Marina Vallarta.

Car & Motorcycle
Starting at about M$500 per day, on-the-spot car rentals can be pricey during high season; you’ll often do better booking online, though extra insurance charges mean online rates aren't always what they appear to be. At other times, deep discounts are offered.
Numerous car rental agencies maintain adjacent counters in the airport arrivals hall, with offices nearby. Below is a list of agencies with Vallarta offices.
