On this tour you will visit colonial cities such as Oaxaca and visit indigenous communities that still preserve their traditions, religious beliefs and social organization. In addition, you will encounter manifestations of the Olmec, Zapotec and Mixtec cultures; and you will know archaeological zones such as Palenque, one of the most important in the world.
ItineraryDay 1: Mexico City - Puebla - Oaxaca Stop At: Rosary Chapel (Capilla del Rosario), Puebla, Central Mexico and Gulf CoastOur tour will initiate at 08:00 hours. Departure to the city of Puebla de los Ángeles, before our arrival we shall visit a church beautifully decorated by the hands of the natives of the place. Lunch. After our arrival at the city of Puebla, we shall visit the Rosary Chapel, the Cathedral, The Main Plaza and the Historical Center. Subsequently we shall depart towards the city of Oaxaca. Day 2: Oaxaca - Monte Albán - Mitla - TuleStop At: Monte Alban, Oaxaca, Southern MexicoBreakfast at hotel. In the morning we shall visit Monte Albán, an archaeological zone built over a mountain, and we will find expressions of the Olmeca, Zapoteca and Mixteca cultures. Afterwards we shall visit Mitla, the “City of the death” which is an important place which shows its beautiful decoration based on symbolic gravures. We will admire the “Tule Tree”, perhaps the living being of the biggest size in the world. Return to Oaxaca, a beautiful colonial city, including its Cathedral, the magnificent church of Santo Domingo and the “Gold Museum”. Lodging. Departure at approximately 04:00 hours towards Tuxtla Gutiérrez, capital city of the state of Chiapas. You will enjoy a most beautiful landscape, its orography and magnificent flowers. Arrival and transfer to the embarcadero of the Grijalva River to enjoy, travelling in a boat to arrive at Sumidero Canyon which is a geological marvel which height reaches 1000 Mt. in its highest point. Afterwards, transfer to San Cristobal de las Casas, going through Chiapa de Corzo. Lodging. Departure and transportation to an area known as “Los altos de Chiapas” to visit the indigenous communities named San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan, indigenous towns which keep their traditional way of life, their religious faith and their social organizations. Their churches, huts and clothing are most original and colourful. Afterwards, return to San Cristobal de las Casas. Free afternoon. We suggest a walking through the streets of this beautiful city and visit the market, Santo Domingo, the Cathedral and the museum of Jade which keep a copy of King Pakal’s tomb. Lodging. Tour to the Agua Azul Waterfalls (Blue Water Waterfalls), its water seeming turquoise tones, its short waterfalls create wells which in turn are natural swimming pools where it is possible to be refreshed, surrounded by abundant vegetation and typical fauna of the place. If the weather is good enough, we will visit the Misol Ha Cascade. Afterwards, we will be heading towards Palenque. Supper and Lodging. One if the most important ones of the Mayan World. Both, due to the historical discoveries as for its beauty. Within the Pyramid of inscriptions there was found a Tomb of the Pakal King with an engraved inscription in it. Cross temple, Sun’s temple and the Palace. Afterwards transfer to the airport of the city of Villahermosa to take the flight to their city of origin. It is suggested to confirm flight after the 17:00 hrs.
