Club in Oaxaca City

Take some hipsters, a vague Wild West theme, the cool menace of Reservoir Dogs and the 'everyman' appeal of The Beatles and you've got a rough feel for Txalaparta. This quietish hookah bar has plenty of dark nooks and crannies to hide away in by day, but morphs into a jiving hive at night.

It mostly draws a crowd of youngsters in their 20s to mid-30s, who pile in to dance to assorted rhythms from Latin to jazz, world music, trip hop, reggae and more (sometimes with live bands or guest DJs).
