Mexican in Izamal

Sure, it's touristy, but this is fresh, handmade Yucatecan cuisine at its finest. The papadzules kinich – rolled tortillas stuffed with diced egg and topped with pumpkin-seed sauce and smoky sausage (M$120) – is a delightful house specialty. Kinich is also famous for its dzic de venado, a shredded venison dish (M$240).

The setting is a massive palapa and the servers are dressed in traditional huipiles (long, sleeveless tunics).
