Rappel and zipline over rock walls into the crystalline springs, and explore the caverns by kayak, snorkel and inner tube. Enjoy delicious snacks plus a gourmet picnic lunch amid splendid natural surroundings and hear about ancient Mayan legends of mythical guardians that protect these sacred waters. Receive personal attention from your guide on this small-group tour, limited to 19 people.
Upon hotel pickup in the morning, your friendly guide will greet you with coffee, chocolate and pastries. Sit back and relax aboard your air-conditioned vehicle en route to Puerto Morelos, where cenotes unique to the Yucatan Peninsula await. Learn about the unique geological formations of the water-filled caves, connected by a network of underground rivers, as you explore them with your small group. The four different types of cenotes you’ll visit symbolize natural elements: fire, water, earth and wind. Each one of these cenotes is a different age, thus giving each a very unique environment from each other. Each Yucatan oasis was considered a source of life to the ancient Maya and represented an entrance to a world of communion with the gods. Your guide will share Mayan legends and mysticism in an atmosphere of fun. Learn about the myth of the alux (spirit beings that guard their cenote domains), which share characteristics of the jungle and its waters. K’aak (fire) is an open cenote with underground currents, surrounded by vertical walls and exceptional landscapes. Interact with nature as you paddle a kayak or float in an inner tube amid the verdant jungle. Visit Ha’ (water), a cavern cenote with aquatic fauna and beautiful rock formations, and explore underwater gardens of water lilies in a stunning natural setting. Snorkel in calm waters. Next, rappel down the rock walls of Lu’um (earth), a young and semi-open cenote. Here, water flows horizontally and connects to the aquifer through tunnels and caves. Finally, Zoom along parallel ziplines at Lik’ and feel your adrenaline pumping on this high-flying adventure across the pool. Enjoy swimming in the slow-flowing water of this ancient cenote, which is fully exposed to the lush vegetation due to its collapsed walls. Enjoy chocolate, coffee and oatmeal cookies upon exiting each cenote, except where lunch is served. You’ll dine on a deluxe picnic, including fussily-vegetable soup with a selection of premium quality cheeses and deli meats, accompanied by a variety of rustic breads and fresh salads. Choose from an assortment of water, coffee, wine and beer (in addition to soft drinks and seasonal fruits en route) before drop-off at your hotel.
