On this small group (maximum 6 people) tour, explore the beautiful town of Bacalar and the gorgeous fresh water lagoon, Lake Bacalar! The lagoon is obviously amazing, but the town is equally interesting. We will start off by exploring the “Lagoon of Seven Colors” including the cenotes within the lagoon and the area with the exfoliating sand! Then we will make our way into town to experience the Spanish fortress that overlooks the lagoon, which includes many interesting pirate artifacts! A delicious local lunch is included in this tour. If you are looking to get off the regular tourist paths and venture out a little, this tour is for you! Lake Bacalar is about a 2 hour drive south of Tulum, but totally worth the drive! The lake is cenote fed and absolutely gorgeous! The lake looks like the beautiful Caribbean, but it's actually a freshwater lake. We will make our way around the lake and stopping in some beautiful spots. On one side of the lake is an area of shallow water with a soft sand that people use to exfoliate their bodies with, if feels great! After experiencing the lake we will eat a delicious local lunch, then explore an ancient Mayan fortress on the edge of the lake with lots of great history and pirate artifacts.
