Flights & getting there


Direct flights connect Mauritius with Australia, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe. From further afield you may need to take a connecting flight from South Africa, the Middle East or Europe.

Airports & Airlines

Mainland Mauritius' only airport is Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport.

Air Mauritius is the national carrier. It has a good safety record and a decent international network.

Departure Tax

Departure tax is included in the price of a ticket.


Until sea levels fall in future millennia, there is no land bridge by which to reach Mauritius.


The Mauritius Shipping Corporation operates long-haul ferry services between Réunion and Mauritius at least once a week. The journey takes about 11 hours. We're yet to meet a traveller who arrived in or left Mauritius in this way, but the option does exist. There are no scheduled shipping services to Mauritius from other countries.
