Drinking & Nightlife

Mauritanian tea is ubiquitous, invariably strong, sweet and endlessly decanted between tiny glasses to produce a frothy head. It's polite to accept the first three glasses offered. Alcohol is technically forbidden but might be found in a handful of restaurants in Nouâdhibou. Nightlife, for lack of a better term, generally consists of men smoking a shisha (water-pipe) at cafes or restaurants.
