Discover dazzling sea caves, sleepy fishing villages, and prehistoric ruins on a full-day sightseeing tour around the island of Malta. Visit the Blue Grotto area for an optional boat ride to its magical-looking caves, and spend free time in the seaside village of Marsaxlokk. Refuel with a 3-course lunch and wine, and then visit the Hagar Quim Temple and the prehistoric fossils in Ghar Dalam cave.
Leave your Malta hotel (pickup from selected hotels) and travel by coach to one of the island’s oldest quarries. Visit Hagar Qim, Malta’s main pre-historic site that overlooks the wide expanse of the blue Mediterranean and the islet of Filfla. From Hagar Qim, head to Wied iz-Zurrieq, where (weather permitting – boat price not included) you can take a boat trip to the Blue Grotto, renowned for its crystal clear waters. After a 3-course lunch with a glass of wine at a local restaurant, drive through local vineyards right up to the idyllic fishing village of Marsaxlokk. You'll have time to stroll through the market set out on its waterfront. Afterward, continue to the cave at Ghar Dalam, where archaeologists have unearthed ample proof that Malta once formed part of the European landmass. Return to your coach and relax on the way back to the hotel where your tour finishes. Please note: the sea around the Blue Grotto is rocky, so boat rides are subject to cancellation if the weather is bad.
