Maafushi has some of the most competitively priced activities in the country on offer, from cheap diving, snorkelling trips and windsurfing to sports fishing, kitesurfing and dolphin-watching trips. There's a huge number of outlets concentrated around the northern end of the island near the beaches, and all guesthouses arrange activities as well.
Nowhere in Maldives has as many sleeping options on one single island as Maafushi and you're spoilt for choice with budget and midrange accommodations vying for your attention. Those by Bikini Beach attract a premium price tag, but competition is fierce and you can often find great bargains, especially compared to resort islands.
There are dozens of restaurants – many of which are inside guesthouses – on Maafushi, and these tend towards buffets, which are a popular and cheap way to fill up. Despite the island's international crowds, it still has some way to go food wise, however, and there's nothing particularly sophisticated or noteworthy here.
Drinking & Nightlife
There are some options for visitors who'd like to have a few drinks at the end of the day. A number of boats with alcohol licenses regularly visit the island and weigh anchor just outside the harbour and will collect visitors who want to come for a drink. You'll often be given a flyer on the main road.
