The suburbs of Petaling Jaya are home to some excellent neighbourhood cafes, bars and live-music venues. Shah Alam is a predominantly Muslim city and has less to offer in terms of drinking and nightlife.
Petaling Jaya Coffee Scene
From teeming traffic to crowded malls, Petaling Jaya's frenetic pace can easily sap one's strength. No wonder, then, that there's an impressive coffee scene to restore the energies of office workers and theme-park-junkies alike. The Glass House is a light-flooded, greenhouse-like cafe where you can flip open a laptop while enjoying an iced latte. Just south is Closer, where the minimalist aesthetic (wire lamps, concrete floors and half-empty bookshelves) creates no distraction from the excellent espresso.
