Welcome to Sri Menanti
The palatial architecture dotted around Sri (or Seri) Menanti belies its languid pace. Nestled in a highland valley, this sleepy hamlet was first settled over 500 years ago by Minangkabau immigrants from Sumatra. Sri Menanti became Negeri Sembilan's royal capital in the 18th century. Today the silence is only interrupted by birdsong, scampering chickens and very occasional tourists, who day trip here to glimpse the palace, museum and mosque.
