Teluk Pandan Kecil Trail

Hiking in Bako National Park

One of the park's most popular trails is the 2.6km path to Teluk Pandan Kecil, a gorgeous sandy beach surrounded by spectacular sandstone formations. The trail climbs through the forest before emerging onto an open plateau covered in scrub. Pitcher plants can be seen on the trail down to the beach.

On the way to Teluk Pandan Kecil it's possible to make a 30-minute detour to a viewpoint overlooking Teluk Pandan Besar, an attractive stretch of sand accessible only by boat.

Around the point from (northwest of) Teluk Pandan Kecil is the famous Bako Sea Stack, an islet that looks like a cobra rearing its head. To get close enough for a photo, though, you’ll have to hire a boat (from park HQ; RM35/70 one way/return for up to five people).
