Most buses are provided by Rapid KL. The main local bus station is at Pasar Seni in Chinatown. Rapid KL buses have their destinations clearly displayed. They are divided into four classes:

Bas Bandar ('city bus') Services run around the centre (RM1).

Bas Utama Buses from the centre to the suburbs (RM1 to RM3).

Bas Tempatan ('local bus') Services around the suburbs (RM1).

Bas Ekspres Express buses to distant suburbs (RM3.80).

Apart from Pasar Seni, useful stops in and around Chinatown include Bangkok Bank on Lebuh Pudu, Medan Pasar on Lebuh Ampang, Kota Raya on Jln Tun Tan Cheng, and Muzium Telekom on Jln Raja Chulan.

The free GO-KL City Bus has four circular routes, with stops at KLCC, KL Tower, KL Sentral, the National Museum and Merdeka Sq. Buses run every five minutes during peak hours and every 10 to 15 minutes at other times.
