Appu has been running one- to six-day treks of Kenong Rimba State Park for decades. Tours cost RM80 per person per day for a minimum of four people, plus RM150 for the van and boat trip to and from Jeti Tanjung Kiara (there's a different rate for less than four people).
Tours include food and guide, but they are no-frills jungle experiences – you camp in the park, with all equipment and meals (vegetarian as meat will perish) provided. Trips go when enough people are interested – and with the number of visitors to this area dropping extensively since the jungle train ended service, it’s best to get a group together yourself.
You will need to take a torch, insect repellent, a thin sleeping bag, decent walking shoes, a raincoat or poncho and a first aid kit.
Appu is usually at his first floor office from 8pm in the evening if you want to meet him.
