Day 1 Kota Kinabalu Arrive at any time.
Arrival Day and Welcome Meeting
Day 2 Kota Kinabalu/Mount Kinabalu (1B) In the morning, travel by bus to the base of Mt Kinabalu, the highest mountain between the Himalayas and Papua New Guinea.
In the afternoon, stretch your legs by exploring the trails around the park or check out the visitor centre.
Opt to enjoy some beautiful nature walks through lowland tropical forest on well marked trails or relax and prepare for the climb ahead.
In the evening, there is a short briefing about the next day's climb.

Day 3 Mount Kinabalu (1B, 1L, 1D) Set off early to begin the ascent up Mt Kinabalu. It is not an easy walk, but it is incredibly rewarding. Willpower is the main requirement as it's uphill all the way!
Spend the night at Laban Rata in basic mountain huts 3,272m (10,735 ft) above sea level.
Turn in early to prepare for the final climb very early in the morning.

Day 4 Mount Kinabalu (1B, 1L, 1D) Summit Mt Kinabalu (3-5hrs) and arrive in time for sunrise. Return to Laban Rata for a rest and to HQ for lunch. Continue on to Poring Hot Springs.

Day 5 Mount Kinabalu/Sukau (1B, 1L, 1D) This is Sabah's longest river and home to an incredible variety of wildlife. We stay in the jungle and get to observe a vast array of insects, birds and animals in their native environments. Walking along jungle trails and travelling the river by boat you regularly see king fishers, hornbills, macaque, and proboscis monkeys. Very occasionally you may get lucky and see elephants, wild boar, otters, orangutans and other reclusive species.
Our accommodation tonight in the midst of the jungle is a simple but wonderful experience, offering twin-sharing rooms with with fans and mosquito netting, with ensuite bathroom.
The overnight stay locations of Days 5 to 8 may swap on occasions, depending on the availability of Selingan Island accommodation.

Day 6 Sukau (1B, 1L, 1D) Enjoy free time in the area and an afternoon cruise to spot animals along the river.

Day 7 Sukau/Sepilok (1B) Sepilok is one of the highlights of the trip where you'll get to meet the adorable 'wild men of Borneo'. Encountering orangutans and their human like features is a truly unforgettable experience. The centre is an excellent example of active conservation, re-introducing domesticated, injured and orphaned orangutans back into the wild.

Day 8 Sepilok/Turtle Islands (1B, 1L, 1D) Drive from Sepilok to the jetty for a boat ride to Libaran (Turtle) Island Park.

Day 9 Turtle Islands/Kota Kinabalu (1B) With a little free time back in Kota Kinabalu, you can immerse yourself in history at the Sabah State Museum, visit the Monsopiad Cultural Village, home to a notorious head hunter, or explore the islands off-shore of Kota Kinabalu, excellent for swimming or snorkelling.
