Gemalai is a complex of six kampung huts built on stilts over the paddy fields at Laman Padi. The traditionally styled rooms are comfortable and well equipped, and the bathrooms are partially open-air. An excellent Malay breakfast is served in your room.
Although the name Gemalai refers to the Bahasa Malaysia word for a gentle breeze that whispers across the paddy, light sleepers should beware that the huts’ thin walls and close proximity to a road, as well as roosters and buffalo, might make their stay a little less than peaceful.
Nestled in the middle of lush vegetation, The Gemalai Village offers peaceful accommodation in Langkawi. Guests enjoy free WiFi in the chalet and free bike use. Cenang Beach is 850 metres from the property. Modeled after traditional Malay wood house, every chalet is well-appointed with a flat-screen TV and a private balcony. The en suite bathroom includes free toiletries and a shower. A hairdryer and ironing facilities are available upon request. Breakfast is served daily in the chalet and Gemalai Restaurant serves set menu lunch and dinner. Alternatively, guests can have a meal at the nearby restaurants, located a 5-minute walk away. The reception is open all day and friendly staff are happy to assist you with things to do around the area. Laundry is available at a surcharge while daily housekeeping and luggage storage are free. The Gemalai Village is 1.7 km from Cenang Mall and 2.1 km from Underwater World Langkawi. Langkawi International Airport is 7.4 km from the property.
Beginning 1 July 2016, as directed by the Langkawi Municipal Council, a local government Tourism Promotion Fee would be applicable per room per night.
A tourist tax of MYR 10 per room per night is applied to all foreign guests. This tax is not included in the room rate and must be paid upon check-in. Guests with a valid Malaysian Identity Card or valid permanent residents MY PR Card are exempted.
