Hiking up Gunung Gading (906m) takes seven to eight hours return, but don’t expect panoramic views on the way up: the trail is thickly forested, so you’ll see mainly the bottom of the rainforest canopy. Only once you reach the summit, where the British army cleared the jungle to make a camp during the Konfrontasi, are you rewarded with views.

At Batu Berkubu (10 to 12 hours return; trail marked in red and blue) you can see a communist hideout from the same period.
