Outside Kafe Heng Huat you'll find Soon Chuan Choo who, in her trademark red chefs hat, has been knocking up some of Penang's best char kway teow (broad noodles, clams and eggs fried in chilli and black bean sauce) for more than 47 years. Adjacent stalls sell won ton mee (wheat-and-egg noodle soup) and other Chinese Penang staples.
