The main activity in the reserve is a wildlife drive in open-top safari vehicles along the 32km logging road that leads to the Sungai Kinabatangan and smaller, adjoining logging roads. There are three wildlife drives per day, with a high likelihood of spotting Borneo's impressive mammals and varied birdlife. The best time to spot wildlife tends to be from July to September, though seasons are changing.
There are two short interpretive trails around the Sabah Parks headquarters, the site of the guest lodgings. Tackle them yourself (with leech socks on) or go early in the morning with your guide who can point out various plants and forest critters.
