After pickup from Kota Kinabalu or other selected hotels, set off on a 3-hour drive to the north of Sabah. Your guide makes a stop at the villages of Gombizou and Sumangkap to observe the art of gong-making and honeybee farming. Next, visit the longhouse at Bavanggazo village where the Rungus people reside. One of Sabah's many indigenous tribes, the Rungus are mostly farmers and gifted artisans who excel at woven basketry and intricate beadwork. Lunch will be served at the Rungus longhouse before your journey continues for another 1.5-hour drive to reach Tanjung Simpang Mengayau, aka the Tip of Borneo. This dramatic headland is situated at the northernmost tip of Borneo and its official name means 'lingering junction,' as it is here that the South China Sea meets the Sulu Sea flowing from the east.
